When Taylor Hahn and Amanda Leigh of House of Rolison first set out to reimagine this 1920s Spanish Mediterranean-style house in the Coldwater Canyon enclave of Beverly Hills, they were instantly attracted to its prime locale on a private flag lot set far back from the street. They also knew “the bones of the home were the perfect patient for major surgery!”
The Los Angeles-based design/build duo went on to dole out nearly $2.4 million for the place this past May, and then set out to breathe new life into the historic home—giving it a fresh, contemporary flair, while still honoring its soul. Now, almost seven months later, the stylishly reimagined showpiece has returned to the market, this time asking a smidge under $4.2 million.
Nestled behind iron gates and towering hedges, on a flat acre-plus parcel of land laced with olive trees, the creamy stucco and stone structure was originally built way back in 1924. In its current iteration, four bedrooms and a matching number of baths are filtered across nearly 3,400 square feet of two-level living space, which is adorned throughout with stone walls and floors, custom-stained cedar ceilings, and a mix of original and imported light fixtures. There’s also a brand-new terracotta roof.
A front wood door imported from Italy opens to rustic yet modern interiors, which are highlighted by a living room boasting a stucco fireplace and French doors spilling out to a covered balcony, and formal dining room resting beneath a vaulted ceiling. A boldly styled kitchen is outfitted with oak cabinetry, Nero Marquina marble countertops and ledges, sourced brass fixtures, a center island topped with white Macaubas quartzite and skylights, and an Ilve range, as well as an accompanying breakfast nook featuring a bespoke table and banquette seating.
Two bedrooms, a full bath, and powder room sporting Venetian plaster walls and an imported marble sink also can be found on the main floor, while a posh upstairs master retreat stands out with a striking domed light fixture, balcony with hillside views, and luxe marble bath equipped with dual vanities, a freestanding soaking tub and rainfall shower.
Per the listing, a space on the lower level with its own entrance, the original stone floors, a river rock fireplace and large bath can easily serve as an entertainment area, a second primary suite or guest unit; and outdoors, the picturesque grounds are encased in greenery, and hold an al fresco dining terrace with a pizza oven and grassy lawn with plenty of room for a pool (plans included). A two-car garage and driveway parking for up to three vehicles also are available on the premises.
The listing is shared by Brock Harris and Lori Harris of Brock & Lori Real Estate, and Farrah Brittany of The Agency.
